Fue intermediate Workshops: You should be able to play basic songs. Working on getting a stronger sound and be able to play solo pieces and to play with taiko (e.g.: Chichibu Yatai Bayashi, Utsu Hachijo, etc.). Will also learn new original songs and folk songs. Preferred Fue: tuned #8, but also possible with #7 or 6

Shakuhachi workshops: We will focus on getting a better sound and learn some Honkyoku and original melodies.

Marco Lienhard is the director and founder of Taikoza and East Winds Ensemble in New York City. He was a member of Ondekoza (1981-1998) performing on Shakuhachi, Taiko, Nohkan and Shinobue. Marco Lienhard mastered the Shakuhachi under Katsuya Yokoyama in Tokyo. He has recorded in several CDs including the critically acclaimed debut solo cd: Shakuhachi CD and the Music of Hayao Miyazaki ( 8 million streams on Spotify). He released three CD of Taikoza which were nominated for Best Ethnic CD at the JPF awards. Lienhard has performed as a soloist with New York city Opera and Juilliard New Music Ensemble, he has also performed worldwide including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden, Hammerstein Ballroom, Boston Symphony Hall, Tchaikovsky Hall and House of Music in Moscow, Bolshoi Circus, Osaka Castle Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Center and Suntory Hall.
